Today we had a lecture with Caryn Franklin, former co-editor of i.D Magazine and co-founder of All Walks Beyond the Catwalk. It was really good to hear her speak as it underlined WHY she had the beliefs about diversity that she did and it also gave me a clearer understanding of the project, and about the types of people I could use and how I could style them.
More than anything it made me believe more in my idea of diversity and my idea of true beauty.
Finally, her talk on diversity on men really cleared my head, because I knew I wanted one of my shoots to be with a male model but I wasn't sure if it would have as much impact because its a man. Caryn's lecture told us how young men are not allowed to be vulnerable and so they probable have just as much pressure on them as women to "fit in." I now feel confident with my male shoot.
